Mark
has been in the entertainment industry since 1988 when he
operated the Albuquerque rock club - Confetti. He started
booking bands through Big River Corp and Evening Star and
after the club was closed, continued handling the production
for their other shows throughout the southwest.
By the early 90's he was contracted by promoters and venues
to produce the events from 300 seat clubs to 30,000 seat arenas.
After proposing to his then girlfriend from onstage at Reggae
Sunsplash at the Paolo Soleri in 1994, a family was started
and the traveling became less and less. He turned to the growth
and production of local larger events such as the Edgefests
and the series of concerts with the Rio Rancho Parks &
Recreation department. He opened the Mesa del Sol amphitheater
as the box office manager and continued to financially settle
shows in and around Albuquerque until 2002. He now just consults
on events and runs a successful door and furniture manufacturing
business with his brother.
Albuquerque has always been his home and he has seen almost
all the local live clubs come and go as well as the bands
that played them.
NewMexicoEvents(dot)com also posesses a history of bands
that have played in New Mexico over the past thirteen years.
He has been a witness to the ever-changing media in Albuquerque
and the corporate takeover of the entertainment business from
record companies and agencies to the recent diluge of promoters
and venues.
Whether you want to just rant about subjects such as those ridiculous
ticket surcharges and prices or want to know when a band played
last or just want to know why - ASK
